I will recommend his book "A Science of Generic Design: Managing Complexity through Systems Design", Salinas, CA., Intersystems, 1990, two volume set, and his book "Societal Systems: Planning, Policy, and Complexity", New York: Wiley Interscience 1976, reprinted in paperback Salinas, CA. Intersystems 1989, which presents theoretical and empirical results relevant to issues of coping with complexity.
