Internet Economics: This special issue covers applications, electronic commerce, and economic models of the Internet.

Examples of electronic commerce topics includes, but is not limited to, technologies for: digital cash, micropayments, authentication, encryption, deniability, virtual supply chains, establishing trust, detering crime and fraud, capability discovery and description, virtual banking, government policy implementation, and tracing transactions.

The related topic of economic models of the Internet addresses new ways of charging for usage: using micropayments for infrastructure payment, electronic mail postage, impacts of various models on the telecommunications industry and society, current preferential routing policies and proposed changes, levels of service, and protocol options.

Papers should explicate the technical issues and examine their impact. For example, a proposed change in protocol that includes micropayments for preferential routing should address international tariffs, different national economic policies, and the impact on the telecomunications industry as well as the feasibility of implementation.

Actual case studies as well as simulations are encouraged. Technologies for both studying and implementing economic policies as well as electronic commerce are also relevant. Guest Editor: Andrew B.
