FUCAM, Facultés Universitaires Catholiques de Mons (B) DMEM, Strathclyde University (UK)

Glasgow, July 12-15, 1999 with the scientific support of INRIA

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES Industrial management and engineering face practical problems in the pursuit of efficient and acceptable solutions, to which goal practitioners and researchers should work together. Our objective in organizing IEPM'97 is to bring together these scientists and managers so that they can learn from each other. Researchers present their original scientific results and contributions, while practitioners focus on industrial applications and experience.

THE UNIVERSITIES With about 1400 students from 27 different countries, Fucam is one of the 9 French speaking Belgian universities. For several decades, Fucam has developed teaching and research activities in management in general and more recently in production management. In this field, Fucam collaborates with industrial partners and participates in local, national and European research projects. European and North American students exchanges have always been promoted to offer an international experience to future graduates.

The University of Strathclyde was founded in 1796 (exactly 100 years before Fucam !) as Anderson’s Institution. The University is Scotland’s third largest university, with around 14.000 students whose ages range from 17-70, and who represent over 90 countries. It has one of the largest Engineering Faculty in the country.

CONFERENCE TOPICS A broad range of research and applied topics will be covered during the conference. Papers related to the following topics are appropriate for the conference :

THE CITY Located on the banks of the River Clyde, Glasgow is Scotland’s largest city, it has the reputation of being one of the friendliest and is ideally situated for easy access to Europe and London. Much of the centre has been extensively restored, and Glasgow is enjoying a major revival of cultural activity, evidenced by its designation as : European City of Culture 1990, City of Architecture 1999. Just a few miles away, the lochs and mountains provide some of the most beautiful countryside in Britain. The University has a large Sports Centre, and a swimming pool.

CONFERENCE LOCATION All the conference rooms, the breakfast and lunch room as well as the bedrooms are situated in the heart of the campus village, on the John Anderson campus.
