The 1999 annual conference of the Information Resources Management Association (IRMA) will be held in Hershey, PA, USA from May 16-19. As the chairperson of the Information Modeling Methods and Methodologies Track, I invite you to submit papers and participate as a paper reviewer and/or session chair. I also ask that you consider submitting proposal for a panel or invited session.

If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the Information Modeling Methods and Methodologies Track, or would like to discuss your ideas about putting together panels or invited sessions please do not hesitate to contact me.

TRACK COVERAGE Information modeling methods and methodologies track invites submissions related to modeling methods and methodologies for information systems development. We are interested in conceptual, theoretical, and empirical (e.g., action research, case study, experimentation, survey) work. With the increasing popularity of Internet and electronic commerce, this track is particularly interested in modeling methods and methodologies addressing the analysis, design, and development of web-based applications.

RECOMMENDED TOPICS The Information Modeling Methods and Methodologies Track encourages the submission of quality papers, and panel and workshop proposals dealing with (but not limited to) the following topics: -- Information modeling -- Enterprise modeling -- Methods and/or methodologies for web-based applications -- Management of web-based projects -- Requirement engineering -- Method engineering -- Software engineering -- Data modeling

Submission Category 1: Full-LENGTH SUBMISSIONS Those individuals interested may submit full-length (not to exceed 20 pages), original, and previously unpublished, conceptual or empirical research manuscript for review and decision. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings in their entirety or as 3-6 page (1500-3500 words) mini-paper, as recommended by the reviewers. High quality papers will be considered for further review and possible inclusion in the Information Resources Management Journal, the Journal of End User Computing, the Journal of Database Management, or the Journal of Global Information Management. In addition, the best paper in terms of quality and suitability to the theme of the conference will be awarded the "Best Paper" Award.

Submission Category 2: RESEARCH-IN-PROGRESS SUBMISSIONS Those individuals interested may submit research paper proposals (abstracts) or a summary of tentative results of the study to date in 1-2 pages (500-1000 words) by October 16, 1998. Authors of accepted proposals/summaries are asked to submit a 3-6 page (1500-3500 words) mini-paper by January 18, 1999 for inclusion in the conference proceedings.

Submission Category 3: PANEL AND WORKSHOP PROPOSALS Individuals interested in conducting a symposium, workshop, or panel discussion are asked to submit a 2-4 page (1000-2000 words) proposal covering the purpose of your session, and the names and addresses of any other panel/workshop members. Method of presentation is at the submitter's discretion, however, the submitter has the responsibility for providing his/her own participants (such as panel members) and any special equipment. All accepted proposals will appear in the proceedings. (Note: All panel/workshop/symposium members must register and pay for the conference).

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES All submissions will undergo a blind review. It is assumed that manuscripts are original works and previously unpublished.

- Manuscripts must not exceed 20 pages for full-length submissions; 1-2 pages (500-1000 words) for research-in-progress summary/proposal; and 2-4 pages (1000-2000 words) for panel, workshop, and symposium proposals.

- Must be accompanied by a separate cover letter with every author's name, address, telephone number, full affiliation and the track to which it is submitted. All correspondence will be sent to the first author, unless otherwise specified.

- Must be accompanied by a 100-150 word abstract (for full-length submissions only).

- Full-length papers must not currently be under review by another publication or conference.

- Must be accompanied by a 3 x 5 postcard with the author's name and address for acknowledgment of receipt of the paper or the proposal or provide an e-mail address where you can receive the acknowledgment.

- The number of submissions by an author (including joint authorship) is limited to a maximum of two submissions.

- Electronic submissions are allowed in ASCII as long as a hard copy is either faxed or mailed to be compared with the electronic version to ensure that the submission was correctly received in its original format.

Authors of accepted papers (at least one person, in case of joint authorship) must register and attend the conference.

DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF FINAL PAPERS/ PROPOSALS FOR INCLUSION IN PROCEEDINGS JANUARY 19, 1999

EARLY REGISTRATION ENDS APRIL 3, 1999 All conference participants (presenters, panelists, etc.) must register for the conference.
