CALL FOR PAPERS
18th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling (ER'99)
Nov 15-18, 1999, Paris (France) (Workshops: Nov 15-18)
SCOPE OF THE CONFERENCE
The international CONCEPTUAL MODELING conference provides an international forum for presenting and discussing current research and applications in which the major emphasis is on conceptual modeling. This conference was originally devoted to the Entity-Relationship (ER) model, but has long since expanded to include all types of semantic data modeling, behavior and process modeling, and object-oriented systems modeling. The conference embraces all phases of software development including analysis, specification, design, implementation, evolution, and reengineering. It is the aim of this conference to present state-of-the-art research on emerging topics in conceptual modeling, to review important techniques in related areas, and to discuss application papers of interest to information system professionals as well as information technology academics and researchers.
TOPICS OF INTEREST
The conference focuses on conceptual modeling and advanced information systems design and implementation, including their theoretical foundations. We solicit submission of original research, and experience and vision papers that address this theme. Suggested topics include, but are not necessarily limited to the following areas :
Conceptual modeling for:
database design methodologies data warehouse and multidimensional modeling information systems decision-support systems integrating ER-, OO- etc. modeling information-retrieval systems hypertext systems web information systems active databases heterogeneous and federated databases knowledge bases multimedia databases user interfaces spatial and temporal databases geographic information systems remote sensing, medical, biological and other databases
Conceptual modeling in information system engineering :
CASE tools integrating application models rapid prototyping maintenance and evolution reverse engineering and reengineering business process modeling workflow modeling and management database integration
Theoretical foundations of conceptual modeling :
extending modeling concepts semantics and constraints query languages integrating data and behavior modeling integrating different types of conceptual models materialized view design and maintenance new modeling languages
Other related topics where conceptual modeling is the major theme.
